Thriving Interiors Specialist Plans for new Premises
A local home interior business in Ashington have relocated into larger premises following significant growth and expansion.
Alexandra Interiors owned by husband and wife team Colin and Claire Robison started up, back in 2009, and now have a modest head count of 15, with the majority of staff based and living in the local and surrounding areas.
The business has been going from strength to strength and from its current base manufactures everything from bedrooms, offices, kitchens and furniture, having grown the business significantly they needed bigger premises to support their further expansion.
Now, the former Remploy building on the Jubilee Industrial Estate in Ashington, which had stood vacant for some time, has been taken over by the local employer Alexandra Interiors as part of their expansion plans.
Alexandra Interiors, which supplies a bespoke design service, carpentry and finishes for bedrooms and kitchens, was already based on the estate and has purchased its new 42,500 sq ft open-plan base, where staff can take advantage of a series of cellular workshop facilities, spacious storage yard and ample car parking.
The new space is currently getting renovated ready for the staff and team to move in within the next 2-3 months- they are planning a change to the front entrance making more of the prominent location and will also create a modern retail showroom space to create a walk around environment for customers and suppliers to see the finish product.
The end result will be a one stop shop – enabling buyers to purchase everything they need under one roof – i.e. flooring and fittings.
The expansion and additional space will also mean new jobs for the business to help support demand including sales and office based roles.
Lee Farrier, Head of Estates at Advance Northumberland added “It’s great to see a building that has not been used for some time bought by a business undergoing rapid growth, who will bring the unit back to life and provide important investment and jobs in the area”.
Colin Robison, Owner of Alexandra Interiors said: “We are delighted with the new building and we have ambitious plans for it, we have outgrown our current space and the new unit will provide a fantastic base for our showroom and retail offer.
The customer service I received from Advance Northumberland was fantastic and they have helped me to relocate and expand quickly. Our investment into the new facility means we can take on new members of staff and we are looking to create even more jobs in the future as the company grows”, it’s an exciting time for our business”.
